The gorgeous Pineider La Grande Bellezza Arco Oak limited edition is another design innovation by Dante del Vecchio, inspired by the colors of celluloid pens made in the 1930s. One of the classic color patterns was known as Arco, a stratification of many layers of materials. After months of research, Pineider has reproduced the Arco color using several layers of resin, re-creating the visual effect of the celluloid. The new material not only looks like the beloved Arco, it is much more durable (and not flammable!).

The Pineider La Grande Belleza fountain pen has a soft 14kt gold flex quill-cut nib and a piston filling mechanism.

Review Title: A magnificent pen that also writes as good as it looks... (EF nib)

I was attracted to this pen by (the combination of )its colours: celluloid like oak resin, silverish section and (golden)nib. I saw live writing samples of the pen with a EF nib and was astonished by its flexibility, ink flow, souplesse... I never owned a pen with EF nib before. Most of my pen nibs are M or stub. I asked Joost Appelboom for guidance and he confirmed that the EF nib would write as shown in the videos. I ordered the pen and was not disappointed: it writes exactly as promised. I never had any issues with Pineider pens so it became one of my favorite brands,

The proportions of the nib to the section, the section to the barrel, the barrel to the cap, flows easily for the eye and fits snugly in the hand.

The stacked arco oak resin pays homage to the famous Omas arco bronze celluloid, however, although it's not as visually prestigious as arco bronze, the Pineider arco oak does have its own charm. The nib and trim is a silver colour, probably rhodium.

I prefer posting pens and this cap posts magnetically. Capping is also magnetic and aligns in line with the layered lines of the resin. Both capping and posting work without any hindrance and in a likable way.
The feather quill clip is proficiently sculpted and is spring loaded.
The pen is a piston filler and mechanism works very smoothly.

The star of the show is the gold nib. It gives pleasurable line variation and in my example gives a line from 0.3-0.4 mm to 1 mm. The feed on my example keeps up well with the flexing.

No doubt about it... it's a really good pen.
