For me the Al-Star is like a work horse, to write with it for hours. The price is such that you do not need to be extremely careful with it. Just throw it in your bag and it will write when you need it to. I have a couple of Lx pens and also some Al-Stars. The Lx is my favorite, the nibs of the Lx are always good and smooth. My experience with the Al-Stars is that you have to be lucky with the nibs: they can be very smooth but sometimes they are scratchy and don't improve enough with use. When it is smooth, it is a great value for money. The nib on this one is really nice. I chose the Diamine Burnt Sienna as an ink to match this Bronze Al-Star, it's a great combination.

Before that I had a plastic lamy safari, I was pleasantly surprised by this, the case is very light, it does not scratch in my pocket, it is as comfortable as a safari.

I bought this fountain pen along with lx rose gold. Bronze looks great and similar to lx line. For me, bronze color is similar to gold. Shipping was very fast, and I love wrapping paper. Thank you :)

don't make the mistake of comparing it to the Copper-Orange special edition which is a much more saturated, vibrant colour. Take the Bronze for what it is, a subtle colour that grows on you. That's what I like about Al-Star's, the anodised finish brings out the best in all colours. Quality is up to the usual excellent LAMY standard.
