The previous review here at Appelboom says that the converter doesn't fit. I guess the person didn't take out the cartridge that comes with it from the cap. This is my second Design 3, and a similar thing happened to me with both pens. For my first one, the Blue and Green one, I almost contacted the store about this seeming issue, but I found out before that the converter does fit the pen. You just need to make sure to remove the cartridge first. It can get a bit stuck in the cap when the pen arrives, at least that happened to me twice.

The pen itself is very well-balanced, and I enjoy writing with it. I got this one with the 14k nib, and it writes very smoothly. I do get hard starts sometimes, which never happened with the steel nib one, but I'm not sure there's a connection.

Appelboom's service is fantastic, as usual, and the pen arrived in the US faster than it would have if I bought it from most sellers here. The packaging is second to none, as usual.

The pen is really nice, but the converter that comes with it does not fit. It is too wide for the barrel. It does fit a long international cartridge, but I would like a functioning converter.

Based on web info I liked the design of this pen very much but was not sure about its look and feel. Living not far from Laren I drove to the Appelboom store. There I took the pen in hand and had a good look and feel. It’s not a big pen but it has mass and a lot of that mass is at the top. My advise is try before you buy. Some people might find this pen too top heavy.
For me it’s great, I love it. The build quality, its weight, the smooth medium 18ct nib, the feel of the metal and coated grip, and the colours. My daily writer.
