Purchased this pen and it took a month to get it to me. Paid for the nib calibration and to be honest I believe they destroyed the nib. It is very hard to move across various paper types. There is not a buttery smooth feel to it as others have described. Feel scratchy when I write with the pen making it not very enjoyable to use. The pen itself is beautiful and the feel of the pen in hand is substantial but not overbearing. The look of the pen is something I've received several compliments on. Yet it all comes back to the writing experience and to be truly honest I am very dissatisfied. And oh yes... Received a bill from DHL today stating I owed them $23.90 for customs/duty tax even though there was nowhere listed that this would be an incurred charge. The invoice and the ad states FREE SHIPPING... Not so free IMHO. All in all not happy.

This is my third Diplomat and first Excellence A. It was love at first sight. Still wrapped in the plastic sleeve and safely tucked in the case it took my breath away. The classy silver stripes commands attention and the weight is pleasant. I got the medium nib tuned and smoothed and almost feel like it was unnecessary as my other two Diplomats wrote smoothly right out of the box, but I am happy it was tuned and smoothed. The Excellence A, feels luxuriant in my hand and makes writing effortless. I love Diplomat and the Excellence A is not to be overlooked. First time Appelboom customer, the online shopping experience was easy and shipping was quick to New Mexico. Thank you Appelboom for a wonderful experience.

I already had this pen in blue and red, but looking online I was having in mind this one, with the shiny and sophistacated metal body. I received it and it is so refined in person!
The F nib is perfect and provides a smooth and slightly feedbacky writing experience. One of the very best steel nib on the market, definitely. Thanks to Appelboom for a fluid delivery.

I ordered this pen with a gold nib after watching some online reviews. The gold nib is exceptionally smooth and is one of the best writing pens I have. The pen is nicely finished and looks very sophisticated.
