Review Title: An Excellent Fountain Pen

I bought the Pelikan M800 M, after reading lots of reviews about the excellent build quality and great design of this model. I already had a vintage Pelikan M250, which also writes beatifully, With these relatively high expectations, I was not disappointed. I should mention I also have a Pilot 823 M and M800 is clearly better, in my opinion, because it has a unique combination of smooth, wet nib with a hint of feedback. It is indeed a firehoze, which I also love, especially coupled with a wet ink, such as Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-peki.
I requested the Tune & Smooth service and I am very happy with the nib of my M800. It is truly magnificent.
In the same time, I am grateful to Appelboom for the fast shipping, good communication and excellent products. I will certainly come back and buy other products again soon.

Review Title: Wonderful Pen

This is a grail pen for me, with not so large hands the 149 and PeliKan M1000 are too large and not comfortable, this M800 is the perfect size, it looks beautiful with its black lines on a green resin background. Unfortunately there is no ink window and the barrel no longer is translucent to allow seeing the ink level but the weight of the pen gives a good indication of when empty.

I've been writing with this for the last 3 weeks and its a beauty, it writes true to a western Fine and the nib was checked by Appelboom for me so I knew it would be a reliable writer, there is a small amount of feedback but it writes so bouncy and smooth, a lovely gold nib, I can get good variation on lines and with my shading inks it makes my bad handwriting look passable. Very very happy with this purchase and the service from Appelboom again.

This is a quality pen. The nib is smooth with a bit of resistance (depending of paper of course). Every detail of the pen is top notch. A very beautiful and classic writing instrument. Well balanced and the size is perfect for my small hands. The m1000 would be too large. (my gloves are 7,5-8 in size) The fine nib is perhaps equal to a Japanese medium. The ink flow is perfect (used ink is Pelikan Brilliant Black)

I could write a lot about all the good things of my new fountain pen, such as quality feeling, smooth writing (which has been even smoother after two weeks writing), easy ink filling, easy cleaning, easy nib exchange and so on.
But my main point is that this is a fun pen! These two weeks I have been writing constantly (mostly nonsense), drawing, and just enjoying putting a lot of ink on paper. I must confess I don't find it easy to put the pen away...

Review Title: New Favorite

This was a Christmas present and a long-time wish fulfilled.
I own a Pelikan M200 and an M600. I appreciate them both but the additional heft of the M800 elevates the writing experience for me. The pen is pleasant to hold. I appreciate that I can write with it both posted and unposted.
I was surprised by the variation of color in the green striations. They are not uniform and the colors vary with the light and angle. The M800 is such a beautiful tool it occasionally distracts from my writing task.
Purchasing from Appelboom was a pleasure. My question regarding pen availability was answered within 12 hours. After I placed the order, I was startled to see how fast a package could travel from Holland to Anchorage, Alaska.

This was my first experience with Appelboom and it was perfect! Good information, swift delivery, smooth service. Nothing but good things to say.

When it comes to the pen, I am still puzzled. The pen looks wonderful, and I like to have it uncapped in my hand. Great balance.
For my taste, the nib is a little bit too flexible and it is very wet. Depending on the paper, this can be a problem. Also, I opted for an F, but the nib is extremely broad. I have M Nibs that are "finer" than this F one.

Buying this pen from Appelboom is an experience that cannot be missed. I enjoyed the experience to the extent that I placed another order of Pelikan M800 special edition. The packaging is superb and shows class and fine taste. The pen is wonderful piece of writing instrument. The nib tuning service was brilliant, the pen is well tuned and writes juicy lines.

Where should I begin, well I will walk you through the process step by step. First, ordering and nib tuning service is excellent. Second, follow up email to update me on the status of my order. Third, prompt response by Mr. Joost Appelboom responding to every question I had with a friendly and professional tone. Fourh, arrival of the package very quick, and beautifully wrapped. In a green box holding the pen box. Pen box is wrapped as a gift, with two wrapped delicious cookies. Last but not least the pen. The pen is gorgeous and elegant. The M800 is the perfect size pen, with a nice heft to it. The nib tuning service was awesome. The pen glides over the paper with no effort, well tuned. I am glad I ordered a broad nib. It lays juicy lines. Just a joy to write with it. Thanks Appelboom for a beautiful experience.

This pen was given to me as a gift and I couldn't be more pleased! After inking the pen, it was clear that the nib tester had done an exquisite job. The evidence being the level of glide the nib had across the paper. This will certainly be a pen I cherish and would recommend for anyone.

This pen is absolutely fantastic. I don't need to expound on its virtues. Appelboom's service was exceptional. Fast, efficient and friendly when I emailed them. I would not shop anywhere else for high-end fountain pens. Shipping to Canada FYI.

Review Title: I’m thrilled to have found this pen-and Mr Appelboom!

I am a lefty, and have been in search of a pen and nib that work optimally for me for several years now, with mixed results. After reading a Scrively review of the Pelikan M800, I decided to give this pen (with a Fine nib) a try, and am so glad I did. The pen has heft without being too heavy, fits perfectly in the hand, and the section is quite comfortable. The piston mechanism is the smoothest I have used. It feels quite solid.

But, for me it is the Fine nib that makes this pen. Although they are supposed to be a good choice for lefties, I usually struggle with fine nibs because of more feedback than I would like, which makes writing feel like work. Not so with this nib! It is very smooth, and lays down the perfect amount of ink. None of the pens in my collection surpasses the writing experience this one provides.

Review Title: Beautiful Writing Instrument

• Review Add on: 21-06-2019

Traveling from Canada, I was very privileged to personally visit the Appelboom store in Laren during the last week in May. My intention was to purchase a Pelikan fountain pen. I settled on this one, the M800. I liked the weight of it and the balanced feel in my hand. This model has a brass piston mechanism which sets it apart from its smaller siblings. It also has a larger 18K F nib. Although the nib is not very springy, it writes smoothly. It’s feedback is subtle. The nib is wet but not overly. And yes, this Fine nib writes with a slightly wider line that is typical for those crafted in Europe (generally speaking). This is a beautiful writing instrument. It’s build quality is high. It feels luxurious in my hand. For me, it is a real privilege to have this pen as part of my collection of regular writers. Joost was a great help with this purchase. The Appelboom store is lovely and the town of Laren is beautiful.

This was my first order with Appelboom. Ordered the pen, and it was delivered within 1 week. Joost also fulfilled my request to test the nib to ensure that it was smooth and indeed wrote like an extra fine nib (the one I ordered). He was very prompt in replying to my emails. The pen was received very well packed, along with a personal thank you note. Will be a repeat customer! And the prices are hard to beat, especially here in the USA.
