The Nakaya Cat With Wool Balls (Eiro cat) utilizes the highly refined and time-intensive chinkin technique to create an elegant and poetic design. Precious materials such as gold powder and gold leaf are used in the production of this pen, and its creation typically requires a year or more to complete.

The chinkin technique has a history dating back hundreds of years. Skilled artisans from Wajima have applied this traditional technique to create a warm and colorful portrait of a house cat. Gold powder is carefully inlaid into the hand-engraved chinkin lines, while subtle color accents have been added to the yarn and wool balls.

Nakaya pens use a practical cartridge/converter filling system. The reusable converter allows the use of virtually any bottled fountain pen ink, while the pen is also compatible with Platinum ink cartridges.

Each Nakaya pen is supplied in a special Paulownia wood presentation box and includes a traditional fabric pen kimono.

• Nib: 14-karat gold nib. The nib size is not marked, but we believe it to be a Medium.
• Extra Information: The pen comes in a Paulownia wood box with an urushi pen stand. Please note: there are no original papers or leaflet included. However, very unusually, the pen does include a letter from Nakaya along with special approval stamps (see photos).
