Review Title: Genuine sunflower color

• Review Add on: 17-04-2026

I purchased this ink for an Opus 88 Harmony Flower RGT that I bought at the same time. I was simply looking for an unusual ink color for this fancy-looking pen, aiming to match one of the multicolored spots on the pen body. Finding a yellow ink is not easy — I spent time browsing ink reviews to identify one that produces easy-to-read text.

This yellow is a genuine sunflower color, satisfying the readability objective (at least with the broad nib I use, for writing with sparse lines, as it is flashy). It is less "citron" than I had imagined; I do not feel the two yellows — ink and pen — match perfectly. The ink is fluid and wet, and suitable for eyedropper pens, based on my experience to date.

I would not have expected to find such excellent-quality ink at such a low price!

Love this. It's a very, very nice blue color with a little shading, even on a EF nib (TWSBI Obsidian). It keeps up the speed of writing. And Rohrer&Klingner is from Leipzig, An even beautiful (rebuild) city as their inks are.

Review Title: Rohrer & Klingner Cassia

• Review Add on: 21-11-2025

Review Title: Fantastic inks

Rohrer and Klingner inks are my favs and I'm biased a bit I guess :-), I got the Salix ( blue-grey) and Fernambuk (red) and both are so beautiful, Salix to me is like a tempest, stormy skies, and Fernambuk an autumn red, both are a bit 'dimmed', not 'screamy' and that's why I absolutely love them. Packaging was great and shipping quick!

Review Title: Alt-Goldgrün

This ink is amazing! Not only a fantastic color, but also great writing performance. It flows steadily and does not blot or feather.
In my opinion a perfect match for the Esterbrook Botanical Garden, as a matching example.
I am super happy with it.

Review Title: Verdigris – Sepia - Old Golden Green - Verdure

• Review Add on: 05-11-2024

About eight months ago I bought four Rohrer & Klingner colours at Appelboom. All four are great inks, write well and are easy to clean. Best of all is their price.
The four colours I bought where Verdigris, Sepia, Old Golden Green (Alt-Goldgrün) and Verdure. The ink swatches and writings samples on the webpage are close to how I experience them on white paper.
I tested the inks in different pens, on different papers, and I never had any issue with the combinations.
The pens: Caran d’Ache Ecridor & Leman, TWSBI 580 ALR and YStudio Classic Revolve.
Paper: Leuchtturm 1917, Rhodia, Clairefontaine, Tomoe River and Lamy.

Beide inkten werken prettig in mijn TWSBI Eco extra fine.

Immediately after writing, the black has a greenish tint, but it gradually settles into a slightly bluish black.

Review Title: Scabiosa

• Review Add on: 14-01-2023

Great ink but was expecting more color shifting since it is iron gall based. It darkens less than the Salix in this same range. Dries fairly quickly, the purple is not overly saturated, and holds up well under watercolors or alcohol markers.

Degelijke ijzer-galnoteninkt met een prachtige kleur. De inkt is zo goed als watervast, en toch gaat het reinigen van je pen gemakkelijk. Een van mijn favoriete inkten!

Review Title: Rohrer and Klingner Blau permanent

• Review Add on: 07-05-2022
• Average Rating: (5)

I have tested a variety of inks and subsequently found that the Rohrer and Klingner Blau permanent, from Leipzig, Germany, suits me perfectly well. This ink has good flow-characteristics, which eliminates "skipping" i.e. sudden stops in the ink-flow and prevents the pens ink-channels from clogging. It is a lubricating and wet ink yielding a smooth feeling when writing. The Rohrer and Klingner Blau permanent also resists water to a certain degree, however not fully and does not disappear completely if the paper should be a bit wet. It is also easy to clean out of the pen, rinsing it by water. Furthermore, from my subjective view, the Rohrer and Klingner Blau permanent gives a saturated pretty blue colour. My general impression is that this ink has a number of advantages, is relatively cheap despite it's eminent characteristics and fits well for daily writing using different paper qualities.

Review Title: Salix waterproof ink interesting properties. Wet and nice shading.

I ordered Salix twice and Scabiosa twice as well because it is very nice and waterproof. Shading is very good with these 2.. and it is way cheaper from Appelboom than here in Singapore. Thanks Appelboom

I like darker blues and this is easy to use on inexpensive paper.
Since it is iron gall ink, it is recommended that you take care of your fountain pen.

Beatifully shading ink, well behaved with good lubrication. A classic and versatile color. Can be a bit difficult to read in smaller handwritings with finer nibs but great on medium or broader nibs.

I use the ink with a dip nib. I‘m very fond of this ink. She works very well on every paper, even the cheapest one. The ink allows very fine hairlines. No feathering or bleeding.
The color is very dark, almost black with a blue shine

So far, I have bottles of Verdura, Solferino and Smaraggrun. All three are excellent inks. They all behave extremely well, are gentle on pens and look amazing on paper. The ink colors are well saturated, the texture is rich and are comparable to all the best inks out there..
