Montegrappa WILD: Arctic Fountain pen

For the new collaboration with Project WILD, Montegrappa set out in search of cooler climes. Their newest collaboration with wildlife photographers and campaigners Helle and Uri Løvevild Golman ventures to the Arctic, where climactic extremes are as different as day and night. Majestic landscapes and contrasting seasons make the Arctic the backdrop for a fascinating array of wildlife. Each animal is a master of survival, yet the region’s dwindling health is an alarm bell for our planet.

The WILD Nature Foundation founders’ devotion to the world’s most remote locations highlights what we all stand to lose. The two-tone Montegrappite emulates the moods of the threatened region in dazzling shades of blue. Montegrappa’s proprietary artisanal resin offers efficiencies that reduce the waste of conventional acrylics.

The ‘Ghost of the Arctic’: the snowy owl’s wing feather is a staple of all Project WILD editions. A custom steel clip symbolises the fragility of nature – and Helle and Uri’s enduring efforts to preserve it.

This is a numbered, limited editions of 999 fountain pens, rollerballs and ballpoints. The writing instruments are accompanied by a selection of postcards, featuring Project WILD’s finest polar wildlife images.

The Montegrappa Wild: Arctic fountain pen is equipped with an 18 kt. gold nib and uses a cartridge/converter filling system.

Italy's first pen producer, Montegrappa, began manufacturing pens in 1912 in its factory in Bassano del Grappa in Italy. Utilizing natural celluloid and precious metals,Montegrappa combines traditional methods such as die-casting with more recent innovations as low-relief engraving to form their precious art objects. Whether Montegrappa use colors reminiscent of the master painters or ornamentation suggestive of Baroque palaces, the Italian heritage and romance is infused into each product.
