Since its inception, the Extra 1930 has employed celluloid in its cap and barrel construction. A contemporary version of the classic Montegrappa Extra 1930 made with materials prized for their technological merit, the Extra Hi Tech features a dimpled cap and blind cap in solid aluminium. All trims, including the cap band, grip section, ring, thread and clip, with signature Montegrappa rolling ball end-piece, are fashioned from titanium. The barrel is formed of carbon fibre. The final item exudes a sense of utter modernity.

Owing to the nature of the chosen materials, the Extra Hi Tech offers a lighter weight than its siblings. It thus presents itself as the perfect writing tool for those who write for long periods, for whom any extra heft might be prohibitive. Once experienced, the sense of lightness and balance prove irresistible. 

Tradition returns with the working elements: the Extra Hi Tech fountain pen is cartridge- and converter-fed, and is fitted with solid 18K gold nib with ebonite feeder. Challenging to manufacture, instantly desirable, the Extra Hi Tech will be offered as a limited edition of 250 fountain pens and 250 rollerball pens only.

Italy's first pen producer, Montegrappa, began manufacturing pens in 1912 in its factory in Bassano del Grappa in Italy. Utilizing natural celluloid and precious metals,Montegrappa combines traditional methods such as die-casting with more recent innovations as low-relief engraving to form their precious art objects.
