Montegrappa Vintage Class Brenta Tintenroller

The Brenta is the very first model in Montegrappa’s new Vintage Class.

As visitors to Bassano del Grappa know, Brenta is also the name of the river that flows beneath the landmark Ponte Vecchio bridge and past Montegrappa’s historic headquarters. The 174km stretch of water that connects Trento, Bassano, Padua and Venice to the Adriatic Sea has a history intertwined with Venetian trade and aristocracy, and its elegant, gentle flow is evoked in the seductive soft facets of our new silhouette.

The design takes inspiration from a rare 1930s Extra model, which is housed in Montegrappa’s museum. Brenta’s most distinctive feature is its all-over wave-formation relief – an effect that demonstrates the high technical sophistication of Montegrappa’s pre-war factory. Indeed, this glistening briolette shaping would be barely possible today without the aid of advanced CNC machining.

Italy's first pen producer, Montegrappa, began manufacturing pens in 1912 in its factory in Bassano del Grappa in Italy. Utilizing natural celluloid and precious metals,Montegrappa combines traditional methods such as die-casting with more recent innovations as low-relief engraving to form their precious art objects. Whether Montegrappa use colors reminiscent of the master painters or ornamentation suggestive of Baroque palaces, the Italian heritage and romance is infused into each product.
