Montegrappa Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation: I colori dell'Oceano Tintenroller

Following last year’s edition, Montegrappa has made a new Solidarity Edition in collaboration with Prince Albert’s prestigious environmental organization, the Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco: I Colori dell’Oceano. The I Colori dell’Oceano collection is more accessible and conventional than its predecessor. It is based on Montegrappa’sMia silhouette, and combines a special batch of Montegrappite blend with trims in stainless steel.

The oceans play a crucial role in supporting critical ecosystems that regulate the world’s climate. Mankind’s continued misuse of this precious resource threatens our planet’s future health, making
communication and leadership on ocean protection a priority of the highest order.

Co-designed by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the I Colori dell’Oceano pen highlights the ocean’s vitality and the environmental organisation’s efforts to galvanise action towards its preservation. 

• Crafted from a locally sourced and hand-blended resin, a melange of kaleidoscopic coral colours swim at its surface. This artisanal resin leaves an environmental footprint smaller than conventional acrylics, by recycling offcuts.
• But besides its kaleidoscopic colour scheme, the design’s defining feature is a fluted brass seashell clip created by our lost wax casting studio, detailed with a ruzzolino in pearlescent resin. This component was developed at the Foundation’s request to symbolise our duty to cleanse the oceans and restore their beauty.
• Other details include a pair of acrylic Monegasque rings on the blind cap, a decorated cap band and a top disc bearing the Foundation’s emblem.

Issued in runs of 999 fountain pens and rollerballs, the edition is packaged in a custom, laminated paperboard case, with portions of proceeds from all sales benefiting the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and its myriad activities around the world in support of ocean health.

Italy's first pen producer, Montegrappa, began manufacturing pens in 1912 in its factory in Bassano del Grappa in Italy. Utilizing natural celluloid and precious metals, Montegrappa combines traditional methods such, as die-casting, with more recent innovations like low-relief engraving to form their precious art objects. Whether Montegrappa use colors reminiscent of the master painters, or ornamentation suggestive of Baroque palaces, the Italian heritage and romance is infused into each product.
