The Namiki Yukari Collection brings beloved Japanese nature themes from the four seasons to life. Crafted using techniques such as togidashi-taka-maki-e, chinkin and raden, these Japanese masterpieces are perfectly sized for everyday use.

The Namiki Chinkin Collection is created using the chinkin technique, an equally renowned Japanese decorative art form comparable to Maki-e. The pattern is formed by engraving dots and lines of varying size and depth into the lacquered surface. A thin layer of urushi is then applied to hold the 24kt gold powder in place, bringing the design to life. The delicate and refined motifs with their expressive, three-dimensional appearance are characteristic of this technique. Although it may appear simple, the chinkin engraving method demands utmost concentration and leaves no room for error.

The Namiki Yukari Chinkin Tsuru (Crane) fountain pen is crafted using this chinkin technique: the pattern is engraved into the material and then inlaid with gold. Each pen takes months to complete. The Yukari fountain pen uses a cartridge/converter filling system and features an 18-karat gold nib.

At the beginning of the 20th century, a fountain pen emerged that incorporated the traditional Japanese art of Maki-e.
