The TWSBI Vac Mini Smoke is a large fountain pen that uses a vacuum filling mechanism. The (semi-)clear body gives the TWSBI a different look with the ink it is filled with. The TWSBI logo finish the top of the cap.

TWSBI's vacuum filling mechanism fills the entire barrel with ink (almost 2.0ml) with a single up and down stroke of the plunger. When screwed fully down, the mechanism seals near the nib, giving extra protection against leaking. For short use, the pen can be uncapped and is ready to write. To use the fountain pen for longer, unscrew the piston knob a few turns to let ink flow from the barrel to the nib, but don't pull it up!

The TWSBI Vac Mini Fountain pen has a polished stainless steel nib engraved with the TWSBI logo, available in several sizes.

TWSBI fountain pens can be entirely disassembled for the purposes of cleaning and servicing. Instructions and necessary tools are supplied with each TWSBI fountain pen. Please note that the disassembly feature is only there for experienced users and is not necessary for normal use. Disassembly is at your own risk!

With a history of more than 40 years of manufacturing, including producing high-end pens for other brands, Ta Shin Precision decided to start selling under their own brand, TWSBI. The name TWSBI is made up from TWS and BI. ‘TWS’ is the reversed initials of the phrase ‘San Wen Tong’, translated Hall of Three Cultures, and ‘BI’ literally means writing instrument.

For me this is a perfect fountain pen. It's compact when closed and standard size when posted, perfect for travelling. It has an enormous ink capacity. Its stub nib writes like a dream. I'm so happy with this writing instrument and with Appelboom.

Tijdens de DPS 2023 kreeg ik de kans om met deze pen te schrijven en vrijwel dezelfde dag heb ik deze pen besteld. Het is een kleine pen, maar gepost een prima "daily writer". Ik heb wel even wat moeite gehad met het vullen, mede omdat dit voor mij de eerste vacuüm-vuller is, maar met behulp van een YouTube-filmpje is het me uiteindelijk gelukt de pen vrijwel volledig te vullen.

Ik heb een F-nib en die schrijft bijna als een M-nib. De schrijfervaring is soepel met een klein beetje feedback. Ik vind het een heerlijke pen, ook om mee te krabbelen en te tekenen.

Het is ook geweldig dat je de dop middels schroefdraad kunt posten. Echter, het enige minpuntje vind ik dan wel dat de clip daarbij niet in lijn met de nib is. Het is dus even zoeken hoe je de dop post, zodat de clip niet in de weg zit. Als je dat eenmaal door hebt, dan is ook dat eigenlijk geen probleem meer.

Vac mini von Twsbi

Nun nach mehreren Wochen in Gebrauch, nachdem TWSBI Mini. Die M- Feder des Vac-Mini ist für mich wesentlich angenehmer, als beim Mini. Ja, auch Stahlfedern sind eigen. Die Feder des Vac-Mini gibt ein minimales Feedback vom Papier. Das Reservoir ist immens. Als Vielschreiber mag ich das. Nach dem Befüllen mit dem PINEIDER Pen-Filler fliesst die Tinte angenehm üppig. Einige Zeilen später nimmt der Tintenfluss immer mehr ab. Der Schriftzug wird heller und die Feder gleitet mit mehr Widerstand übers Papier. Das Prozedere um den Tintenflluss wieder in Gang zu bringen, ist bei meinem Modell nicht so gut. Das Lösen des Stempels aus seiner Stellung geht extrem schwerfällig. genau so schwerfällig lässt sich der Mechanismus wieder schliessen. Das Gewinde verklemmt nach der ersten Umdrehung meistens. Beim geringsten Widerstand versuche ich es noch einmal. Suche sachte den Beginn des Gewindes und schliesse so das grosse Reservoir. Verwendete Tinte Royal Blue von Montblanc.

Despite being pocket sized pen, I comfortably write with it unposted, with my rather large hand. It feels amazing add the F nib writes really flowlesly and with fine line. Usage is simple, much easier than with e.g. Diamond 580 with piston filler, and ink reserve is outstanding. Strongly recommended.

TWSBI never ceases to surprise me. I bought this pen because I liked how it looked, but never thought I would use it much because of its size. I was totally wrong! I love writing with it and filling it with different inks. The nib is great and I love the feeling on the hand. Totally recommend it!
