The Aurora Optima has a 14kt gold nib and uses a piston filling mechanism.

Aurora makes Nice pen, terrific design and with a large nib choice.
The Optima is a high quality pen, Goccia nib is great, worth the price.

Review Title: My favorite pen from my favorite source

I’ve been using fountain pens for 20+ years, and my current two favorites are Pilot 1911L (MF) and Pelikan M400 (EF). This Optima (F) falls right in the middle: it’s smoother than the Pilot but has a bit more feedback (welcome) than the Pelikan. I love the size, particularly the section which is longer than usual, and the grip is thicker than the pen’s overall size would suggest. I have a small-ish man’s hand, and the size fits me unposted perfectly. So it feels substantial while still being short and light. And the pen is more beautiful than my others. I love the translucence of the barrel. It has quickly become my favorite for both writing experience and look+feel. Finally, Mr Appelboom was quickly responsive to my couple of emails, and international shipping to my local Boston store took only 8 days.

Not surprised by the outstanding performance of Aurora's nibs and the beautiful design, I do like to emphasize this. I also like to express my thanks to Appleboom's outstanding customer service. The product was indicated as not being in stock. It was nevertheless delivered exceptionally fast. In addition, the entire delivery process was extremely transparent. This was a pleasure even for an experienced buyer like me. Thank you, Appleboom
