Every year since 1992, Montblanc has honoured an influential patron of art from the antiquity to the 20th century, with a limited edition writing instrument. Every Patron of Art Limited Edition underscores Montblanc’s belief that arts and culture are an essential part of any thriving society and can only flourish with the support of dedicated patrons. For its 30th (1992 – 2022) and final edition, Montblanc created a double edition, celebrating the lives and legacy of British monarch Victoria and her consort Albert.

The Montblanc Patron of Art Homage to Victoria & Albert Limited Edition 4810 marks the early years of the royal couple with a barrel in pearl-white lacquer, a symbol of purity and youth, and a cone embellished with a traditional Victorian pattern as well as the entwined “V&A” monogram, in which the couple liked to unite their initials.

The burgundy-coloured translucent lacquer on the cap of Albert’s edition is based on the colours of the British Field Marshal uniform worn at his wedding. The geometric, stepped-shaped decoration beneath is recalling the distinctive neogothic stepped gable of Schloss Rosenau, Albert’s child home. The cap shape is inspired by the dome of the Crystal Palace, while the cap ring is engraved with the motto “Treu und fest” (“faithful and steadfast”) that comes with his coat of arms. The sceptre-shaped clip features a red stone. A reference to his origin, the coat of arms of Saxony are found at the centre of Albert’s royal coat of arms is engraved on the handcrafted Au 750 solid gold, champagne-tone gold-coated nib.

Restricted to 4810 pieces, representing the height of the Mont Blanc mountain in metres, the Patron of Art Limited Edition 4810 fountain pen is now available.
