Description
Inspired by the exotic Polynesian Islands famous for their pristine beaches, serene blue seas, and coral reefs shimmering in the clear waters, the ‘Polynesia’ features a semi-transparent resin cap and body with beautiful swirls of blues, white, cream, and brown. The writing experience can be elevated imagining yourself sitting on one of the powdery beaches looking at the luminous blue waters of the Pacific Ocean and watching the palm trees sway. Limited to 888 pieces, the Visconti Opera Master Polynesia fountain pen has been made with acrylic resin and palladium-plated trims. Crafted with many of the Visconti patented innovations that collectors have sought after including: the “Double Reservoir” Power Filler, “Hook Safe Lock” cap design and “Semi- transparent demonstrator” resin.
The Opera Master Polynesia also features the new in-house 18k gold nib by Visconti. This new nib has been made by the Visconti team including the nib, fee and housing unit. The new buttery smooth nibs come in extra fine, fine medium, broad and stub sizes.
After extensive testing Visconti finally introduce the new Smartouch Tubular Nib. Its special shape is turned from a capillarity tube made of Chromium 18. The tube precisely wraps around the feed, resulting in a unique shape and allowing the user to fill his pen without the need to dip the entire grip and nib section into ink. This results in a cleaner and more efficient fill and, due to the nibs uniquely positioned air hole and design, the nib will stay wet for longer before drying out. The nibs are available in Fine, Medium, Broad and Stub.

What a gorgeous pen! Wonderful in design and even better as a writer. The new Visconti nib is soft and an elegant writer. I am able to get quite a bit of line variation with ease. I actually have a sense of joy each time I use this pen. There is just something about it that makes it a showstopper. I contemplated this pen since I first saw it. I was concerned that the color would not be masculine enough but in person, this is a pen that is works for both men and women. One thing that the photos cannot show is the depth of the color in the material. Every time I look at this pen, I find something new that I love. The price point is high but after seeing the quality of the unit, I can understand the value that you receive. I love this pen and if you are contemplating buying one, treat yourself and purchase it! I have purchased quite a few pens from Joost and he is always a wealth of knowledge and a pleasure to work with. He lives to his word and I appreciate his honesty.

I treated myself to this gem for my birthday. I was a little worried about the weight but it sits comfortably in my hand. If you are used to larger pens like Montblanc 149 or Opus Koloro demo, I think you would not have a problem.
I am very happy with the custom grind nib by Appelboom, I ordered a medium cursive italic, and it gives me a very crisp line variation. The nib is adequately soft for a pleasant writing experience.
On some paper, it can skip. It performs best on Tomoe River paper. In my experience, it works best if you turn the piston nob at the end of the pen to give it a generous ink flow.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for something with both appearance and performance.
