With a history of more than 40 years of manufacturing, including producing high-end pens for other brands, Ta Shin Precision decided to start selling under their own brand, TWSBI. The name TWSBI is made up from TWS and BI. ‘TWS’ is the reversed initials of the phrase ‘San Wen Tong’, translated Hall of Three Cultures, and ‘BI’ literally means writing instrument.

Put your ink in the pen and you’re ready to write. It has a stiff (needle) nib, but somehow that is what makes this Eco write so easily and pleasant.

Excellent pen for sketching and note-taking. Size big enough for large hands. Ergonomic hold, comfortable for long sessions. Large ink capacity. Good steel nib, pleasant out of the box. Demonstrator, so easy to check how much ink is left. Cap and finial color is blue, so if you like to match ink and pen color it will be more specific than the clear demonstrator in the same series. Value is high. Overall, an excellent pen for sketching in the field and as EDC.

This is my second fountain pen, and the first one I bought myself. I like the sturdy build and the large and transparent ink reservoir. The piston system works well.

The pen comes with a wrench and a bit of silicon grease for maintenance, but I do not expect that I need it soon, because the pen works well right out of the box.

I have the medium nib, and find that it writes a bit wet (but: this is based on just the 2 pens that I have).
The only thing that bothers me are the three pointy bits on the section: they are (probably) meant to guide your hand to holding the pen properly. I do not need that, and after 15 minutes of writing it starts to feel a bit uncomfortable. I would have considered a different pen if I had known this beforehand. (Note: this is not the T-version of this pen, where the whole section has a profiled shape.)

Yet, this pen offers a lot of value for its price, so 5 stars.
3 stars for design (if it had a smooth section: 4 stars)
