Retro51 has commissioned two Native American artists to create unique artwork representing their heritage on two new Smithsonian Collection Tornados.
The Retro 51 Tornado Smithsonian Raven Steals the Sun is designed by James Johnson, an award-winning Tlingit artist and carver, born and raised in Juneau, Alaska. He belongs to the Tlingit Ch’áak’ Dakl’aweidi Clan (Eagle Killerwhale). His design portrays the traditional Tlingit origin story of a Raven bringing light into the world. Each Tornado has this Tlingit artwork silkscreened on the stainless barrel, varnished in a matte clear coating and finished with antique silver accents. The pen has the Smithsonian logo engraved on the top ring with engraved serial number, plus the sun logo on the finial and finally packaged in a commemorative tube. Pick up these new rollerballs and carry history in your hands.
The Retro 51 Tornado Pen can easily be converted from rollerball to ballpoint by changing the refill. The Retro 51 Tornado pens use a Retro 51 rollerball refill (included) or standard international ballpoint refill.
Retro 51 abides by the motto that “Life is too short to carry an ugly pen!” The company is based in Dallas, Texas, and produces fashionable gift items that combine modern design with vintage quality.
