Nib Customization

The major strength of this writing instrument is its nib – an extraordinary softness. The Falcon meets the demands of those who value the quality and pleasure of writing, to the look, the security and the persistence of passing trends, without being conventional. The Falcon has a lacquered steel barrel and a 14-Karat gold rhodium-plated nib

The Pilot Falcon Fountain pen uses a cartridge/converter filling system.

The first Pilot pens were launched in Japan in 1918. At this time, the country was opening up to Western influences and was importing European techniques. By listening to their customers, Pilot’s research has enabled them to create new standards in terms of comfort and innovative products.

This was a Black Friday purchase so i got a good price. I got a S-M Nib. The nib is quite springy and gives good line variation. (a Soft-Fine would have given great line variation). I got a black body, since I was not sure how the other colours would look like. Since its an all metal body, it has decent heft; but its not heavy like the FC Emotion Stealth.
The pen was shipped in 7 biz days since it was not in stock when I ordered. As usual, Appelboom’s packaging and their delivery (via DHL) was top notch! Kudos to the team for setting a high bar.

For those who are curious about the nib: it is not a vintage “wet noodle” flex , but a bouncy soft nib that provides a decent character in your writing. The fine nib is soft and has a good amount of feedback, kind of reminds me of Sailor nibs. It has average wetness and pairs well with wet flowing inks.

Pilot meral falcon is a special pen, it is soft yet enjoy feedbacks ideal for pensive mood wrting, and con 70 hilds enough ink to last for days. Also very useful tge nib design for drawing and filling, and the weight is also not tio heavy not tooo light, the section is comfortable but also allows usage of pressure for flexing. Overall i love the pen.
And Joost and his team like always takes care of the quality checks, helps with advices when requested for and alsways there to help in the process to make the experience of buying peaceful, and very pleasurable. I highly recommend both the pen and Appelboom team.

I like fountain pens with a bit of flex and line variation, but I never found a good writer that had a manageable amount of flex. Everything was either a good writer, OR was an artsy pen with a lot of flex. The falcon fits the bill as both. I love the nib, the way it writes, and the subtle flex that makes everything you write look better. Already one of my favorites!!
