Description

In the year 1929 Pelikan was the first company in the world to introduce the differentiated piston mechanism. This technique causes the spindle inside the fountain pen to turn quicker than the end piece of the barrel, with the help of two different threads. To this date, this fountain pen exists in many different variations, and though it has been developed in design and technical details over time, the basic mechanism remains the same.

In 1950, the model 400 was launched. With its green-striped sleeve, it has become a world-wide symbol for the brand of Pelikan. In the eighties, the series was baptized Souverän, though popular lore has taken to calling it by its nick-name Stresemann, because the state secretary of the “Weimarer Republik” was famous for his striped suits…

The production of the sleeve is work-intensive. Adhering to a special Pelikan recipe, the raw material cotton is processed through many different steps until it is shaped into a striped sheet. It is then formed into the right shape, cut and sanded with a diamond. Next, the characteristic double clips at the back of the barrel and on the cap are integrated into the material. This is done with the highest precision in order to obtain a virtually seamless transition between the materials. The writing instrument is then polished to a high sheen before the slightly springy clip with its famous, stylized Pelikan is mounted.

The M600 is available in the colours Black,Black/Green, Black/Blue and Black/Red.

The M600 has  a hand-crafted, finely engraved 14 carat gold nib with rhodium decoration · Gold-plated Pelikan clip.

10 reviews for Pelikan Souverän M600 Black/Green Fountain pen

  1. Jordan  Del Rio (verified owner)

The writing experience with this pen is excellent, it is better than I ever expected. It writes very smooth and is very comfortable to use. I cannot think of one bad thing to say about this pen. I would highly recommend that you purchase from Appelboom, they are very friendly and the packaging is very secure.

  2. Govi

The writing experience using this pen is excellent, Wrote smoothly out of the box. Would definitely recommend this product. Also I had some questions and Joost at Appelboom was very quick in answering my queries

This is my second pen purchase at Appelboom and I will not hesitate to shop from them for all my future writing needs.

I discovered the Pelikan brand after watching a video on the Appelboom’s YouTube Channel. After that, I search their web store for the Pelikan fountain pens. I asked some questions and a few minutes later Joost Appelboom, the owner, kindly respond to me with all the information I need. Appelboom’s service was nothing short of excellent and the pricing I obtained was the best. I could not find other authorized Pelikan at USA that offered the same price and services. A specialist inspected the pen, tune and smooth the nib, and delivered to Puerto Rico, USA. The extra services and shipping was free of charges. Thanks Joost!

  4. Baur Murza

Absolutely fantastic pen! A very comfortable pen to write with, not too narrow. The extra fine nib is very smooth. A bit of a stiff nib but you can get some variation. Wonderful flow with the feed. Can’t go wrong with Pelikan!

I live in Sacramento, California. I had the pen and ink seven days from when I ordered it, and that includes handling a toxic substance declaration with FedEx (because of the ink I also ordered).

    Superb service.

This pen is what I had dreamed it might be. So smooth. A little lighter than I expected. The barrel is beautiful and the translucent ink chamber is very practical. The green color is wonderful. The clip is very stiff and strong. I do not own a large collection of nice pens; I have a waterman man 100 from many years ago that I love. This is my second fine pen and I am very happy with it and the service from Appelboom.

The Pelikan Souveran M600 with a fine nib is a fantastic product. This is now my 3rd Pelikan Souveran pen (M1005 Stressman, M805 Blue Dunes) and I am very pleased with its writing quality, beautiful detailing and ergonomics. The nib simply glides on the paper with great inkflow and no hesitations, skipping or hard starts ever. Highly recommend this pen.

As always the service from Appelboom was equally high quality and I received my new pen in Arizona in a timely manner. Very pleased to continue doing business with Appelboom. There are never any surprises, just great customer service.

While the pen is gorgeous with a beautifully smooth nib, its plastic piston tends to be a bit of a problem. The piston knob tends to loosen a little over a period of usage. Then, one has to re-seat the piston. This is not difficult to do with tutorials available on the net. But if it bothers one, one should go for M800/M1000. These models do not have this problem.

  8. Henry Graumlich

I own and use the M1000, M800, and M400 fountain pens. I have always been intrigued by the M600. Overall I favored the M800s as my workhorse pens. Substantial in the hand and with a size and section diameter that suited me. So why the M600? Every pen has a unique balance between nib, section diameter, balance, weight, overall size. And each of the Pelikans carries an individual feeling. The M600 is a lovely balance between M800 and M400. Substantial, yet light enough to almost disappear in the translation of thought into handwriting. If you gravitate toward larger pens, yet enjoy an almost effortless write, I would recommend you try the M600. I’m glad I did.

An excellent writer when posted and almost short and slim enough for a shirt pocket together with iPhone Mini 13. Very light.

As the flagship model and colours of pelikan no need to say it’s perfect
