I am a frequent writer due to my job and that’s why I use fountain pens every day. About 20 years ago I discovered the fountain pens of the M805 series from Pelikan. The timeless stylistic elegance and the wonderful soft and fluid writing feeling inspired me from the first moment and this enthusiasm has not let up to this day. The BB bicolor nibs (which Pelikan initially also offered for the M805 series) are perfect for my handwriting. I found it all the more regrettable that a few years ago Pelikan took the BB nibs out of its range.

This Pelikan M800 Italic Broad (IB) nib is a joy to use. I ordered this nib in August 2020 but I did not receive it until January 2021. Joost was great during this extended wait for this wonderful nib. I emailed him a few times and he reassured me that my order would be filled. It is a wonderful modern nib that lays down a thick line width on paper on the down stroke (approximately 1.3). It lays a thin line down on paper horizontal. While the nib is firm it is enjoyable and it is a wet writer. For me it was great ordering from Appelboom and the level of service I received was outstanding. I look forward to future orders and highly recommend them for anyone looking to buy quality writing instruments from a professional and courteous retailer.

The nibs are just great, a state of the art nib worth the money. Delivery is fast and service and consultancy prompt and helpful. I recommend these nibs, because it is foolproof to change them and to have a different writing experience with your preferred pen for letters, notes, cards. Or if you are going to change your paper or ink. For finer Pelikan nibs I tend you use wetter inks than the 4001.

I bought a EF nib for my M800 which initially had a BB. Pelikan nibs are easily replaceable by screwing out the nib. Changing the nib size really enhances the fun of fountain pens! And of course the competitive price by Appelboom is excellent, and the quality of the nib was superb.

Previously, I bought a Pelikan EF nib for the M800 from a famous vendor in eBay, it had poor ink flow and could not write, then I bought the Pelikan EF nib for M800 from Appelboom, I got the package today and install the nib on my m800, I inked up and viola! The Pelikan EF nib writes out of the box, no ink flow issues I am so happy and relief! So I decided that Appelboom is the only vendor I will go to for all Pelikans!

I was able to get hold of an M800 Grand Place and was very happy with the pen overall, except it was an M and the line width was a little too thick. I decided to investigate an EF nib and came across Appelboom. The price was very good (it’s since increased in price) and I was impressed with the service and speed of delivery – I live in Japan and it was with me within 3 days. The nib itself was everything that I’d hoped for – great ink flow, but a much finer line – I cannot fault it. I planned to buy another, but unfortunately the price increase hindered me from doing so, but after my overall experience with Appelboom, I plan on making a future pen purchase from them.

The Pelikan M 800 replacement nib I ordered arrived quickly, like previous shipments. Based on my previous excellent experience with Appelboom’s nib meister’s check of an ordered fountain pen, I hoped to benefit from that service again. But unfortunately such an undertaking could not be made to a sole nib without a complementary pen, as I was told. That argument sounded reasonable, even if to some extent a bit disappointing. As it may happen, I received the nib in a fair yet not perfect condition to my taste. I had to hand it over to my local nib meister. Now it is flawless. Nevertheless, thanks to Mr. Appelboom for his usual care.
