The Opus 88 Premium Shell pens are the first high-end pens by the brand. The brass pens have been decorated with materials created from shells, such as green abalone and black and white mother of pearl. To make the beautiful shell parts stand out even more, the cap, section and finial are made of a contrasting satin black resin. The metal details on the pen are silver coloured.
The Opus 88 Premium Shell Black Mother of Pearl Fountain pen uses a cartridge/converter system and features a stainless steel #6 JoWo nib.

Opus 88 is a Taiwanese company. The name Opus was choosen because the company tries to tell the pen user that they are good in using different materials to create pens (materials like brass, wood, shell, sterling silver, acrylic, ebonite, etc.). The number 88 is a reference to the year the company was founded. The symbols in the logo are the Chinese word fort he family name of the company ‘’Hsu’’.

The Opus 88 Mother of Pearl fountain pen is really beautiful and feels substantial in my hands. Unlike other Opus 88 pens, it uses a converter or ink cartridges instead of the syringe filling system. There are two other similar models and I’ve bought them all and have enjoyed writing Sith them. The Bock nibs are excellent and reliable.

The Black Shell of fountain looks beautiful and the Medium nib writes beautifully. The cap opens after 3 turns, which could be a disadvantage as an everyday carry pen for the office. The grip section of ebonite offers a perfect grip (not slippery). I would recommend the the to 100%. Thanks to Appelboom for the perfect service.
