Description
The name Momento Zero, absolutely evoking, means a new beginning, a start from scratch; the first pen made by a new company, based on experience and passion of a strong team. The Leonardo Momento Zero collection is inspired by the world-renowne Italian vintage style. It is a classic pen, perfectly sized and well balanced, decorated with metal trims.
The fountain pen has a stainless steel nib in different sizes (Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad and Stub) and uses the standard international cartridge/converter filling mechanism (converter included).
And the story goes on… A family tradition. Leonardo Officina Italiana is a forge, a laboratory where experience and craftsmanship are mixed giving life to “pleasure”, the pleasure of writing.
Over 45 years of experience in the field of writing instruments, handed down from father to son, from generation to generation. Today Leonardo Officina Italiana works on emotional and vintage projects, taking up the old loading systems, the materials and the working techniques that once characterized the craft of the craftsman. The Leonardo pens have a soul, a human warmth that only passion can give. Each Leonardo collection is hand made in Italy.

This pen is a real eye-catcher with beautiful, intense shades of light and dark green! It writes very smooth and I can write long letters and journal pages easily!

For the last two years I have been eyeing the Leonardo MZ but I didn’t like the available colors that much. However that changed with the 2021 versions Prugna and Alga. I chose the Alga because I thought it would match wonderfully with my favorite ink Iroshizuku Shin-Ryoku, and it does. The material is beautiful and unique with darker and lighter parts. The section of the pen is a bit strange and it took me a little while to get used to it. Not going to lie, it isn’t my favorite section, that is probably because it is a bit narrow for my larger hands. I bought my pen with a medium nib and had it tuned and smoothed by Appelboom. It writes perfectly without skipping or hard starts. It is a bit on the finer side of mediums and I like broad(er) nibs generally so I will probably be buying a seperate broad nib soon. The Leonardo MZ Alga ST is overall a very nice and solid pen for a relatively affordable price.

I absolutely love the resin. It is striking. The move to JoWo nibs has made this pen one of my favourites. It’s comfortable to use and always writes. Great stuff!

This is my third Leonardo pen and is now my favorite! The design and engineering on all the Leonardos are excellent, and I prefer the regular Momento Zero over the Grande because it is a bit smaller and less girthy without sacrificing quality. I appreciate the understated silver tone finish on the pen but the real winner for me is the resin. This is a gorgeous spaghetti resin with a lot of chatoyancy and the green is a true green — not blue-green and not yellow-green, but a solid mid-range green that is really reminiscent of something organic — the pen color is called “alga” to reflect the deep color of algae or seaweed — but it also makes me think of forest green. It’s like holding a dark leaf in your hand; it’s that beautiful. Great writer too!

I am always impressed with Leonardo pens. The Alga is made with beautiful material and writes so smooth. I am using it as my every day pen and I love it!

A lovely looking pen, the green has a lot of depth and matches well with the steel trim in my opinion. I was slightly worried that the engraving on the barrel would stand out too much (I tend to avoid pens with the company name on the barrel for this reason) but it’s really quite subtle in real life. Nib writes very smoothly, and good customer service from Appelboom!

A beautiful hand-turned acrylic pen that writes well with the updated Jowo threaded section nib. Wonderful, as always, customer service by Appelboom.
