Leonardo Officina Italiana has added a new pen to its range: the Momento Magico. It is a fountain pen with a piston filling system designed and produced in their own workshops. The pen body is characterized by a transparent ink window that measures 10 mm, which lets you see the ink level at any given time. Not that you will run out of ink quickly, as the barrel has a massive 1.5 ml. capacity.

Another element that characterizes the Momento Magico is the possibility to completely disassemble the pen. This lets you clean your pen more easily if necessary. For this specific purpose Leonardo has created a new piston tool (sold separately).

The cap of the Momento Magico is characterized by the central band perforated with a detail of the decorations belonging to the period known in the history of art as ‘geometric art’. It refers to the production of decorations of Greek civilization between 900 and 700 BC, which takes its name from term traditionally used for ceramics, production of the same period.

The pen is available with a steel nib, a gold nib or a gold flex nib. The gold nibs have an ebonite feed. The nibs have received and extra-strong lamination treatment, which makes them suitable for any type of ink.

And the story goes on… A family tradition. Leonardo Officina Italiana is a forge, a laboratory where experience and craftsmanship are mixed giving life to “pleasure”, the pleasure of writing. Over 45 years of experience in the field of writing instruments, handed down from father to son, from generation to generation. Today Leonardo Officina Italiana works on emotional and vintage projects, taking up the old loading systems, the materials and the working techniques that once characterized the craft of the craftsman. The Leonardo pens have a soul, a human warmth that only passion can give. Each Leonardo collection is hand made in Italy.

When I bought this pen it was 50% more than it is now so offers substantially value for such a well finished and excellent writing instrument. I chose the pen with gold trim and only time will tell how long this lasts. The pen is very well balanced and offers a easy and pleasant writing experience

As always you can’t go wrong with a Leonardo pen their performance and appearance and second to non. I bought this pen for everyday use but it is so beautiful to look and write with its now on my collection. The weight and length of pen are equally excellently balanced . If I could give it 10 stars I would

The turquoise resin has a beautiful pattern and shimmers in the light. The golden rings on the cap, on the piston filler and on the ink view window are perfectly embedded. The cap opens smoothly. On the cap´s back there is discreetely engraved „Leonardo“ and the pen’s number.
The pen feels medium sized and well-balanced. The ink flow is perfect, not too wet and not too dry (Pelikan Edelstein ink). The nib seems quite long to me and I needed to get used to that at first. My pen has an EF elastic steel nib, which got tuned and smoothed by Appelboom. This turned out very well, thank you very much! The nib is perfectly smooth, it is a very agreeable writing sensation. The line width seems more like F than EF to me (when writing without pressure). The nib is a little bit elastic so that you can get out a little bit of line variation, if you apply enough pressure, but it is definitely not a „flex nib“.
In total it is a beautiful pen and a very good writer.

This pen has plenty of character . I had difficulty in deciding the colour as there are so many very handsome options. I was certainly not disappointed , beautiful colouring, and very tasteful trim . The pen is large (Safari Sized but slightly larger diameter ) and has a large nib , gold plated, which matches the whole. A convenient transparent section in the ink reservoir. The pen has presence: it is somehow quite bold without being loud or ostentatious, so whoever developed this concept should get a big compliment. I really like the character it has, every time I take it out of the box this is the immediate message it radiates. It is certainly the more attractive side of Italian design .
How does it write? Fine is in this case closer to medium, but this suits the pen. It is smooth and has some light feedback, (paper dependent) . The balance is good. Does all this sound positive? It is.

Like all Leonardo products, I found a very well built pen.
In the hand, It is very comfortable that will delight those who find the Leonardo Grande too big. In my case, I prefer the forcefulness of a large Leonardo.
The pen behaves superbly, the resin is simply spectacular and the ability to see how much ink you have left is very useful.
    Another grate pen from Leonardo.

This is my first pen purchase from Appelboom. Not my first Leonardo pen. I opted to have the pen shipped to their nib Meister for tuning. The customer service was good and Appelboom was quick to respond to email inquiries.

    The product:
The pen is very gorgeous and I love the ink window. At first when I inked it up, the nib did not write all that well. I cleaned out the pen and opted for a more wet ink. After a little bit of writing it is performing beautifully. I am not sure if the initial ink was too dry (bad flow and a little scratchy at first), of an ink or if I just had to work through new nib issues before it would perform well. I know some pens are like that. After flushing and switching to a wetter ink, it writes great. I love Leonardo pens and will continue to build up my collection of them! I will continue to look to Appelboom as a reputable, fair priced, quality pen dealer in the future. Thank you Appelboom

The momento magico is very similar to momento zero, there are two differences – first is the cap band design, the second is the ability to preview ink level when capped. This momento magico seems to have deviate itself from my initial impression on momento magico, this fountain pen has the same magico cap band design, but the pen cap totally covers the ink window, there is no way to preview the ink level unless I uncap the pen. I ordered this pen as soon as I received the notification of new arrival of this pen, the emerald acrylic is attractive, I love the finish, overall I am still satisfied with this fountain pen.
