This ink is actually very interesting, despite its basic “blue” name on the bottle. The color itself is a nice medium blue, but on good paper it has some really nice shading and sheen. The flow is very nice and it cleans out of my pens easily. It wasn’t easy to find a bottle in stock, but I’m glad I finally got one.

Mediterraneo is a medium blue which fitted very nicely in my collection of blue inks. Slightly different to what I had expected and unusual insofar that it has a hint of green in it. But that in particular made it very attractive to me,……perhaps driven along a bit by “memory stir”: the foaming sea of long ago and its purity of colour, Bottle an attractive understatement.

The technical characteristics of the ink are at the top: excellent coverage and lubrication, the nib runs smoothly on the paper. But I was impressed by the color, a Mediterranean blue, with some shading, which really recalls the color of the sea on clear sunny days. Definitely recommended.

In december I ordered the Leonardo Blue ink as a present for my wife. After receiving the ink and cleaning one of the fountain pens I filled a Parker IM pen with an F nib with this ink. The colour is definitely different that the standard Quink Washable Blue ink used previously. It has a slight hint of green shimmering through the blue ink and is pleasant to look at and write with. My wife really loves this colour and I will probably ink up one of my pens with this ink as well.
