I will begin by saying that this is an absolutely exquisite pen. I am a metalsmith with a weakness, as it were, for strong and beautiful pieces and materials. I was immediately captured by the exceptionally elegant and simple design of this pen. This sleek beauty spoke to my aesthetic self initially, yet I was delighted to find that the design was more than just that of a gorgeous surface – the materials and color give the pen a rich, solid, quality feel, and I love the matte finish. I was yet futher delighted to learn that it is also a wonderful writer – comfortable to hold and very smooth.

This fountain pen glides over the paper. Great design and it have a nice blue color. The chrome handle is a bit slippery, but after a few minutes you get used to it. So it’s not an issue anymore. The pen is well balanced without the cap attached on the back. Which i personally prefer. Overall well build. Excellent price quality ratio. I am left handed, and Lamy offers a special nib for lefties on demand for this pen. That was the reason i choosed this pen. I’ve only had this pen for a day and don’t want anything else anymore.

This pen is well-made, of quality materials. The Studio has a heft that at first seemed too heavy as I wrote. Within a week of steady writing, however, I became quite used to the weight and now find it a real pleasure with which to write. The design and colour are excellent, and I enjoy the feel of the pen as it puts words on the page. The cap posts wonderfully well, and the metal clip can be adjusted, in terms of balance, to aid my finding of the “sweet spot” for writing with the 1.1mm stub nib that I employ. Is the grip section a mite slippery? Yes -but again, after a week or so, that proved not to be a real issue. Shimmer inks do seem to clog the nibs, unfortunately, but the other inks that I have tried work terrifically in this pen. The removable / swappable nib option was a selling point for me and has come in very handy. Overall, this is a robust and aesthetically pleasing fountain pen, well worth the purchase.

What a pretty pen. I bought this as a daily writer to be carried in a leather pouch. It has been a smooth writer in Extra Fine. Lamy has produced a winner here. I have received many compliments on this pen, which is surprising since this is not very expensive.

This is my first Lamy and I find it a very well made metal fountain pen. It fits comfortably to my hand and I like how the cap ‘snaps’ securely to the body of the pen. An excellent writing nib.

Almost every Lamy user start with the Safari or Al-star and one day you will find that you need a new pen that you can bring it to the meeting that give you exact performance like your Safari or Al-star.
