I was looking for main black ink that doesn’t bleedthrough and feather on non-fountain pen paper. The first my finding – Platinum Black. But it’s a bit rare and expensive. The next one – Noodler’s Black. But it’s very hard to clean the pen afterward. And the ink formula is very weird. Then I got a 30 ml bottle of Lamy Black ink as a gift and since this moment it became my main black ink. I took one star out since I would like to see more water resistance.
And one more thing – I really like design of Lamy bottles, very convenient, functional and clever design.

It was the bottle that got me to buy. But the blue-black ink works well too.

No he conocido otra tinta, todas mis plumas son Lamy, he tenido cartuchos y tintas Lamy…

Lamy’s blue has a tint I really like, It’s a slightly more saturated Prussian Blue than the ones I have tried from other brands, it’s exactly to my liking. The bottle has a neck wide enough to accomodate any kind of pen, the roll of blotting paper on the bottom does come in handy too.

De inkt droogt snel en is een mooi diep zwarte kleur, mooier dan Montblanc Mystery Black naar mijn mening. Het papier dat onderaan de inktpot zit is super handig!

I bought this ink and was anticipating something resembling a metallic brown, which is the colour that comes to my mind when I think "Bronze". In other words, I was expecting a colour closer to the Lamy Al-Star LE Bronze.

However, my first impression was that I got the wrong bottle. It is not metallic at all (like Lamy Copper Orange from a few years back, which is, ironically, more "bronze"than this one), and has no trace of brown in it. It is actually a vibrant orange. Nothing wrong with that – I like orange inks.

It is just a question of expectation – the actual ink is very different from the picture…. and from the pen it is supposed to complement. I won’t be inking my Lamy Al Star bronze with this ink, anytime soon, as it is not a match – not even close. Don’t get me wrong, I will be using this ink… in other pens….

Aside that, it is a good value for money, as inks (and pens) from Lamy are bound to be. Just know that orange is the new bronze 🙂
