I'm not sure if this pen will ever be available again, but I've been using it for almost a year now, and I absolutely love it. Outside of the excellence of an 146's design, piston, and build quality, the "calligraphy flex" nib that Montblanc put on this edition is absolutely outstanding. With no pressure, it writes like an extra fine, but what seperates it from any #6 I have, is when pressure is applied on the downstrokes; I hold it higher on the barrel than I would during regular writing, so high I'm above the threads. There's no need to write slowly, I fly and not only does the feed have no problem keeping up, it excels. The nib has a snap back quality my FA does not, and although it's not as smooth, it feels so much better to push and flex. This nib begs to be flexed and I can't say no. It is by far the best "flex" nib in my collection, and everyday I'm happy to have it in my hand.

I have both the 149 and 146 calligraphy pens. For calligraphy I like the 146 better; the nib snaps back much quicker compared to the 149. It behaves much more like a dip pen nib in that regard. I am getting a very fine line with this pen too which makes it ideal for journaling. Its a lot of fun to write with, great for quick scribbles and drawing too. Overall the most versatile pen I own and highly recommended! Also Appleboom backs up and service or warranty issues I may have. I enjoy doing business with them.

Review Title: Montblant 146 Calligraphy GT

The service and responsiveness to any question was top notch. The pen arrived quickly and safely packed.
The Calligraphy nib is an EF (~0.3mm) when writing without pressure on a Rhodia Dot Pad. It is not scratchy but definitely "tactile", which works well for me personally. It easy and comfortably flexes to renders a B (0.8-0.9mm) thickness line. It may do wider but I do not feel the need. The nib reminds me of the Pilot FA nib or a Mottishaw modified Nakaya/Platinum SF nib with added flex. Note none of these nibs are "buttery smooth" like the broader MB nibs. It adds a very different and desirable flavor to the MB experience. Hopefully they will make this nib an option on more models.

Although the line variation not too much. I still love this pen so much.
The nib is smooth and wet, the size and weight is comfortable for daily writing.

As usual Appelboom online service and delivery was top notch. Ordering online was simple and easy and my new Montblanc calligraphy arrived in a few days. Packaging was great.
The pen is beautiful, as you expect from MB. The nib is graceful, the flex is smooth and the line variation is excellent.

I had missed out on the 149 Calligraphy so bought the smaller 146 as a consolation. The pen is the normal boring Montblanc styling, but the flex nib is what I was especially excited to try. Reviews online were glowing about the 149 calligraphy nib, but unfortunately out of the box this nib wrote frankly terribly. It was dry and extremely scratchy. Under a loupe the tines were tight and misaligned. To make it worse, Montblanc wanted $70 to fix it. I've had some nib issues with other luxury brands on pens that cost less than this and the manufacturer was happy to pay for shipping and a free repair/replacement to make sure I was completely satisfied with my purchase. Never again Montblanc.
