Born near Boston on 29 May 1917 and shaped by his father‘s saying, “We want only winners in this family”, John F. Kennedy carved out an unparalleled political career following his studies at Harvard and his time as an officer in the U.S. Navy. Though allowed only a short time as president, John F. Kennedy was a mover of world history and still stands as not only one of the most influential and popular American presidents, but also as a symbolic figure for a political philosophy embracing progress and new beginnings.

In honour of the man born to be a leader of international stature, Montblanc created the Great Characters Special Edition John F. Kennedy. Commemorating one of the most revered figures of modern history, the Great Characters Special Edition John F. Kennedy makes symbolic references to the life of J. F. Kennedy in subtle design details.

The burgundy red precious resin refers to Kennedy’s time at Harvard University.His initials “JFK” are engraved in the platinum-plated clip, and the three platinum-plated cap rings stand for Kennedy’s three brothers. The Montblanc Great Characters Special Edition is crowned with the Montblanc emblem in moon quartz, reflecting his vision to get a man to the moon.

In tribute to the national hopes and dreams embodied in Kennedy’s pet project, the Apollo space programme, the handcrafted 585 gold nib is engraved with the lunar module that landed on the moon in 1969.

With every Great Characters Edition, Montblanc commemorates individuals who have broken new ground in the fields of culture, politics, science or the arts, and the impact of the legacy they have left behind.

It came to Saudi Arabia after a day. I arrived early at the office and waited for the courier guy. There was no patience to unbox it. No Words! it is a beautiful collectible pen, without any doubt! I took an F nib. The nib is so smooth and the designs on the nib are fantastic!. It is my signature pen!... Thank you apple boom!

The pen feels wonderful to write with, the nib is smooth. The Nib seems to be a bit extra wet - something that I have liked in fountain pens. The pen has some weight that is felt while taking long notes.

The colour and design of the pen is fantastic, except for the fact that the pen does not cap.

The delivery got a bit delayed as the other pen that I had ordered was not available. However, Appelboom agreed to ship both the pens separately and I am still waiting for the second pen.

This pen is beautiful and well balanced. I choose the F nib. The writing is smooth and it sits comfortably in my hand; I can write for long period without fatigue. Its design is warm and elegant, it sure stands out from other fountain pens I have. It is one of my favourite pen.

I decided to buy this pen after I bought the navy blue version, so for this pen my consideration are the same that I wrote about the blue version.

I choose an OB nib also for the burgundy because for my handwriting I feel the oblique nibs more versatile than others tipe of nibs and the pen it's a fantastic writer with this OB nib.

In my opinion, aesthetically speaking, this pen is beautiful and the burgundy version appears more warm and luxurious than the blue version thanks to champagne gold finish.

The pen is beautifully constructed. Wonderful resin accented with champagne toned gold hardwares, slightly understated but also eye catching at the same time. The nib has an intricate design of moon lander which is a nice detail. The weight of the pen is perfect, very balanced and practical for everyday use. The color of burgundy is austere yet luscious. Highly recommended! Thanks Joost for the impeccable service.
